How do I get out of a car loan that I still owe money on. Don't want the car, don't want t

You and the lender BOTH have a financial interest in the car. You signed a legally enforceable contract where you agreed to pay a certain amount each month to repay the loan. That contract has some penalties built in that can be steep.

Is it a %26quot;I don't want%26quot; or %26quot;I can't afford%26quot; type thing?

If it is a %26quot;I don't want%26quot; type of thing, the only thing you can do is sell the car to repay the loan. If you are upside down (the loan amount is greater than what you can sell the car for) -- you are pretty stuck. You can sell the car only if you can get enough cash together to pay off the loan. Remember: the bank will not release their interest in the car unless they are paid (and a buyer should not buy the car without that release).

If it is a %26quot;I can't afford%26quot; type thing you might have more options. The best would still be to sell the car and retire the loan (again, assuming you are not upside down). It might be possible to do a voluntary repossesion (this will be a big hit to your credit, and you will still owe the amount of the loan plus costs less what they sell the car for -- usually at wholesale prices). It might be possible to restructure you loan(s) -- talk to a non-profit credit counseling agency.

Try selling the car to someone who will take over the loan payments. You could use the car as a trade in on a new vehicle. Otherwise, I guess you are stuck with it unless you let the car go back which would ruin whatever credit you have so I wouldn't recommend that option.

Wow, you got a problem. You can't sell the car to anyone without the title. If you don't pay the loan notes, the car wopuld be repossessed, but your credit would suffer greatly.

You are now considered a bad credit risk for future credit.

You can't do it. Call the loan company to find out how much you owe on the car loan if you paid it off today.

This way you can see how much you owe without calculating any more interest. Maybe you don't owe that much.

No getting out without paying for it.

Other than selling it to someone that will take over the payments, I think you're pretty SOL.

u can sell the car as long as u sell it for ur payoff call the bank and ask for a 10 day payoff tell them u are selling it and they will issue the title to the new owner
